
Moot Court and Lawyering Skills Competitions
The Southern Illinois University School of Law has an active and respected program for students interested in moot court and other lawyering skills competitions. Students have an opportunity to participate in each of their three years of law school.
National Health Law Moot Court Competition
Since 1992, the Southern Illinois University School of Law, the School of Medicine, Department of Medical Humanities and the American College of Legal Medicine have co-sponsored the National Health Law Moot Court Competition. The Competition has grown steadily since its inception attracting teams representing law schools from throughout the country. Other Skills Competitions
In addition to advocacy competitions, Southern Illinois participates in two competitions that focus more on problem-solving skills. First, each fall, the school holds an intramural Negotiation Competition, the winners of which compete in a regional competition sponsored by the American Bar Association. Then, each spring, the school holds an intramural Client Interviewing and Counseling Competition, the winners of which also compete in a regional competition sponsored by the American Bar Association.Southern Illinois students have a history of doing well in these competitions.
