The primary purpose of the Registrar is to evaluate, develop, coordinate and implement policy within the School of Law, and more broadly, within the University, regarding all facets relating to academic counseling and records administration for students and alumni of the School of Law. The Registrar is in charge of the technological development and serves as coordinator for the software program that is used to manage data about students from prospective student status through graduation and alumni status. The Registrar is responsible for preparing and providing data for a multitude of internal and external reports, assisting the Academic Standards Committee, and contributing to special projects for the Dean. The Registrar is responsible for the determination of class rank, Dean’s List, Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude honors for graduation, and various other academic awards. The Registrar determines GPA requirements for placing students on academic probation and academic dismissal, as well as for course prerequisites. The Registrar performs transfer and visiting student evaluations, audits for graduation requirement compliance, and provides information and coordinates dual degree programs and requirements with the Associate Dean for Administration and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

The Registrar also oversees the supervision of departmental staff. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for managing all academic records for past and currently enrolled students of the School of Law, implementing the faculty approved curriculum, class scheduling, exam scheduling, student registration, residency determination, administration of final and mid-term exams, providing disability accommodations for students with special needs during exams, distribution of grades, producing dean certificates and generating transcripts. The Registrar’s Office approves bar loan applications and loan deferments, submits 711 applications, and maintains current student addresses, emails, and phone numbers.

The Registrar’s Office strives to assure a smooth transition from matriculation to graduation and beyond, for students attending the School of Law.
