March 06, 2018
The Carbondale Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) selected first year law student Elizabeth Reynolds to receive their 2018 scholarship.
Ms. Reynolds received the American Association of University Women Joyce A. Kelly Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was created for the late Joyce A. Kelly, who achieved her educational goals late in life while as a single mother and raising her family. Her family and friends established the scholarship in her memory to to commemorate her achievements and her dedication to AAUW.
The scholarship is awarded to a current, non-traditional, female student at SIU Carbondale each year.
Elizabeth was very pleased and honored to receive the Joyce A. Kelly Memorial Scholarship. "I am grateful for finding out about the scholarship through the law school. I am familiar with the AAUW because of the great chapter in the town which I live in, Ottawa, IL. The AAUW have an enormous book sale every year and I've grown to respect and admire AAUW for what they do to promote higher learning by making it accessible to all people."
Elizabeth is truly grateful to the Carbondale Chapter of the AAUW for their support and will always remember their kindness. "The assistance means a great deal to me and my children as I juggle the demands of returning to law school as a non-traditional student with two small children."
