SIU School of Law is a ‘Best Value Law School’
Southern Illinois University School of Law was selected by The National Jurist magazine as one of the 2012 Best Value Law Schools in the U.S.
The formula used to determine which law schools made the Best Value ranking included: in-state tuition, average student debt, the percentage of graduates employed nine months after graduation, and bar passage rates.
According to The National Jurist, the rankings are “designed to find the law schools where graduates have the best chance of passing the bar and getting a legal job, without taking on a ton of debt.” SIU Law made the list of "The A Schools" across the country that met the criteria of best value legal education.
Overall, the American Bar Association’s new employment data has shaken up the Best Value rankings, with only 47 schools making the grade compared to 60 last year. This year, with more detailed employment information, the magazine used different weights for employment outcomes, which resulted in a drastically different overall ranking for the top 20 schools and beyond.
SIU Law continues to offer its students an outstanding legal education for a reasonable price. In today’s increasingly competitive law school environment, this becomes more important than ever. We are proud that we have been recognized as being one of the nation’s best values in legal education.
