This program will focus on the current American social, political, and economic problem of uncompensated health care for individuals without any or with only inadequate third party insurance coverage for their health care needs. Besides exploring the extent of, and reasons underlying, this multifaceted dilemma, the program will concentrate on the ramifications of uncompensated care for health care providers and potential public policy alternatives and private initiatives aimed at changing the status quo.
