SIH/SIU Health Policy Institute
Since 1999, the SIU School of Law, the School of Medicine, the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, and Southern Illinois Healthcare have sponsored the annual Health Policy Institute. Students, physicians, allied healthcare professionals, attorneys, and other professionals from a four-state area gather to listen to national experts and discuss current regulatory and public policy issues. Topics have included consumer-driven health care, medical malpractice, the long-term care system and the role of regulation, managed care, access to health care, rural health care, children’s mental health services, and patient safety.
