Job Title:

Duties:
 The Office of Administrative Law Judges is now accepting applications for the position of law clerk/attorney advisor. They anticipate three available positions for a two-year term with a starting date in August or September 2010. Applications must be received by December 18, 2009. Interviews will be held in January. The Office of Administrative Law Judges conducts adjudicatory hearings and issues decisions for the Department of Labor under approximately 80 statutes and executive orders. These range from claims involving injuries under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and the Black Lung Act; disputes arising and environmental and other (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley) whistleblower acts; wage-hour acts; Immigration Naturalization Act special green card disputes; and, government contract and grant program disp The successful candidate will provide assistance to one or more Administrative Law Judges for a two-year by: (1) conducting legal research and analysis of laws, regulations, case law, interpretations, and opinion preparing cases for hearing; (3) developing case decisions; and, (4) responding to inquiries from attorney regarding procedures, case status, and points of law. The appointment is an "excepted appointment" for period not to exceed 24 months.

Required Qualifications:
 Qualifications for the position are admission to the Bar of any state or graduation from a recognized law school provided the graduate is admitted to the Bar of a state no more than 14 months after being employed. Applicants must be 2010 law school graduates, in the upper l/3 of their graduating classes, with law review or comparable experience in legal writing.
Benefits:
 The grade is GS-11 (currently $58,601 per year).
