Duties:
  Description of Organization's Work: The Alaska Public Defender Agency, through 13 statewide offices, provides legal services to indigent clients in criminal cases, child protection cases, mental health commitment proceedings, and juvenile delinquency matters. These services range from legal advice to case preparation and investigation, motion hearings, trial, appeal and beyond. Position Description: The Alaska Public Defender Agency is seeking new attorneys and experienced trial attorneys to handle civil and criminal matters to represent indigent clients. Civil matters would include representing juveniles in delinquency proceedings, parents in child custody cases. Criminal matters include misdemeanor and all levels of felonies. Caseloads may be exclusively civil or criminal,or mixed, depending on interest and location. Positions are available in both urban and rural office locations.

 Applicants musb be a member of the state bar association, and be able to either gain admittance to the Alaska Bar Association through reciprocity or pass the Alaska Bar examination within 10 months of commencing employment.
