This attorney will principally work on major Clean Air Act and related litigation challenging new pulverized coal plants that would emit pollution causing global warming and environmental health problems. ELPC will instead promote positive clean renewable energy and energy efficiency development solutions to meet energy needs in the regional power market, and new clean coal technologies, which can achieve full carbon capture and sequestration.
Organization: ELPC is the Midwest's leading public interest environmental legal advocacy and eco-business innovation organization. ELPC's major program areas include: promoting clean energy development strategies that reduce environmental degradation by encouraging energy efficiency and renewable energy alternatives to nuclear and coal plants; promoting innovative transportation approaches, such as the development of a Midwest high-speed rail network, that will lead to cleaner air and more jobs, and proposing "smart growth" alternatives to sprawl-inducing new road projects; and developing sound environmental management practices that protect and preserve natural resources and improve the quality of life in our communities. Responsibilities: Key attorney leadership role in innovative and successful environmental program activities in the Midwest. Work with ELPC's Executive Director and other experienced attorneys on major litigation and policy advocacy for ELPC's Clean Air Initiative and related Global Warming and Energy Project activities. Participate with multidisciplinary project team including policy advocates, business and communications specialists, and organizers.

Qualifications: At least six years of litigation experience. Substantive knowledge in at least one of the following legal fields is preferable: energy, environmental, transportation, air quality, land use and/or natural resources law. Strong academic record and excellent writing, speaking and analytical skills. Smart self-starter with track record of initiative and success. Should understand and enjoy multifaceted public policy strategic advocacy that involves media, legislative, policy analysis and organizing approaches conducted in conjunction with effective legal advocacy. An inspired and demonstrated commitment to public interest advocacy and the ability to work productively as a member of a team of skilled professionals is required.

Salary: This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2005-2006 starting salary at Step 1 on the Doctorate Degree column is $46,524. The actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment level and college teaching experience. Optional overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available, which may increase the annual compensation by as much as 30%. The College offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.
