Policy of
Equality
Non-Military Organizations
The Southern Illinois University at Carbondale School of law is
committed to a policy of providing its students and graduates
with equal opportunity to obtain employment without
discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color,
religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or sexual
orientation. It is the School of Law’s firm expectation that
employers to whom the School furnishes assistance or facilities
for interviewing or other career services functions will observe
this principle of equal opportunity.
In requesting assistance or facilities, employers are affirming
their intent to abide by the above-stated policy.
Military Organizations
In accordance with Chapter 144 of the Illinois Revised Statues,
paragraph 658b, the Armed Forces of the United States cannot be
denied the use of Law School placement facilities because of
armed forces compliance with rules, regulations, or policies of
the United States government or any agency, branch or department
thereof.
However, organizations covered by the aforementioned statute are
expected to abide by a policy of providing equal opportunity to
obtain employment without discrimination or segregation on the
ground of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age or
disability.
In requesting assistance or facilities, employers are affirming
their intent to abide by the above-stated policy.
The Military employment practice is inconsistent with the School
of Law’s non-discrimination policy.
