Clinic Programs

The SIU School of Law offers students a wide range of opportunities to help actual clients with real problems under the supervision of either a clinical faculty member or an attorney from the community including the Externship Clinic. Students in the Externship Clinc work in city, state, federal, or non-profit law offices, or as law clerks for state or federal judges. Students have also been able to work with both local and state or federal prosecutors and public defenders. Students can complete their externships during the fall, spring, or summer of their third year of study. In addition to receiving valuable work experience, students can receive up to six hours of academic credit.
