The Southern Illinois University School of Law has an active and respected program for students interested in moot court competitions. Moot Court Board members frequently receive recognition for their oral advocacy and brief-writing skills.

SIU Moot Court Team competes at the Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition and makes it to the Final Four.
SIU Law 3L Jennifer Lancaster, coach Prof. Cindy Buys, and 3L Willie Lyles, made it to the Final Four at the Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition! The 2L team, Lisa Kempf and Dontel Crowder also represented SIU Law well at the competition.
SIU Law's Child Welfare and Adoption Law Moot Court Team wins the Third Best Brief Award and advanced to the quarterfinals.

BLSA Trial Team wins Midwest Regional Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition
SIU Law BLSA Trial Team came home regional champion and advanced to the national finals where they placed third. A team representing the Black Law Students Association took first place at the Midwest Regional Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition in Cleveland. 3Ls Myron Grant, and Rahnesha Williams joined 2Ls Youssef Boudjarane and Whitney Lundy on the team. Grant was named the Best Advocate in the regional competition.

SIU Law Cultural Heritage Moot Court team competed in the National Cultural Heritage Moot Court Competition. Special congrats to the 3L team--Hillary Hines, Kyle McAllister, and Clint Rudd--who advanced to the octofinals, knocking out 12 teams!
SIU Law ABA Moot Court Team competes at the National ABA Competition
SIU Law ABA Moot Court Team had an outstanding performance at the National ABA Competition and special congratulations to 3Ls Valerie Ozment and Jerrod Montgomery who advanced to the octo-finals after defeating the reigning national champs in round 1.
National Health Law Moot Court Competition
Since 1992, the Southern Illinois University School of Law, the School of Medicine, Department of Medical Humanities and the American College of Legal Medicine have co-sponsored the National Health Law Moot Court Competition. The Competition has grown steadily since its inception attracting teams representing law schools from throughout the country.
