SIU School of Law offers a tuition rate that is one of the lowest in the country. Due to support from the state of Illinois, and the generous program of scholarships for both incoming and current students, graduates of the School of Law benefit from an average debt load that is below the national law school average. Furthermore, most out-of-state residents will obtain in-state residency after they have been an Illinois resident for six consecutive months.
SIU Law School awards scholarships to admitted students based on their highest LSAT score. Scholarships are guaranteed for the first-year of law school and renewable for the second and third-year provided the student maintains a law school grade point average of 2.8 and a full time (12 law school credit hour course load per fall/spring semester).
For current School of Law students, through the generosity of alumni and friends of the School of Law, an extensive list of scholarships and awards are available for academic achievement, community service, and leadership. View the list of awards for current students.
Student loans and work-study opportunities are available and administered by the University’s Financial Aid Office. Information concerning in-state resident applications, scholarships, loans, and financial aid procedures may be obtained from the School of Law Office of Admissions at 618.453.8858 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
