Jennifer Franklin

Assistant Dean for Career Services

Before joining the SIU School of Law, Jennifer worked as an assistant attorney general in the office of the Illinois Attorney General, where she was a member of the predatory lending unit in the Consumer Fraud Bureau. She was a member of the team of attorneys that handled the Office’s predatory lending investigation, litigation and settlement with Countrywide Home Loans and was on the team that conducted the Office’s discriminatory lending litigation against Wells Fargo Bank.

Prior to joining the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, she worked in the Akron Regional Office of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.  She serves on the diversity committee of the ABA Business Law Section and the Standing Committee on Law Related Education for the Public of the Illinois State Bar Association. She is also currently Co-chair of the Law Student Outreach Committee of the Black Women Lawyer’s Association of Greater Chicago. In addition, she served on the Grantmaking Subcommittee of the Chicago Foundation for Women, the Advisory Board of the Chicago Public Schools Peer Jury Program, and the Board of Directors of Rape Victim Advocates. 

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Technologies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and her Juris Doctor from University of Akron School of Law.
